I am offering a possible explanation for the BOWING and SCRAPING of Pres. Obama before Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Carefully examining the video recording and photo of the G20 meeting of Pres. Obama with King Abdullah, I can see that not only did Pres. Obama make a deep bow of about 90 degrees but also he scraped the floor with his right foot.
The explanation that Pres. Obama bent over at such an angle to shake King Abdullah's hand because King Abdullah is much shorter is nonsense because Queen Elizabeth is much shorter than King Abdullah and as can be seen in the video above which compares the two meetings, Pres. Obama only nods to Queen Elizabeth by comparison.
In Islam, there are two types of ritual bowing, Sujud and Ruk'u. Sajdah is to prostrate oneself to God in the direction of the Kaaba at Makkah which is usually done during daily prayers (salah). While in sujud, a Muslim is to praise Allah and glorify him. The position involves having the forehead, nose, both hands, knees and all toes touching the ground together.
Ruk'u is bowing down following the recitation of the Quran in the standing position while praying according to Islamic ritual (salat). The position of ruk'u is established by bending over, putting one's hands on one's knees, and remaining in that position until the individual attains "calmness".

HOWEVER, both sujud and ruk'u are for PRAYER. It is NOT customary for a Muslim to bow to another as all are supposed to be equal in Islam. Of course it is purely conjecture, but since Pres. Obama's father was a Muslim, according to sharia, Obama would be considered a Muslim. Furthermore, since Pres. Knowing that other Muslims would think that he used to be a Muslim and having publicly stated that he had converted to Christianity and knowing the punishment for irtidaad (apostasy) is death, Pres. Obama may have been concerned that the very conservative Salafis (fundamentalists) in Saudi Arabia would clamor for his punishment because he turned away from Islam. Obama knows that according to Islam, it is shirk (blasphemy) to accept that Jesus Christ is being the son of Allah (Qur'an 4:116; 5:72; 6:14; 17:43; 23:59; 31:13; 112:3) or that Jesus died on the cross (Qru'an 4:157) because the Qur'an vehemently denies this.
So perhaps, Pres. Obama decided to tawba (repent). Muslims know that Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful. Allah wants people to repent from their sins and turn to Him for forgiveness. This theme is repeated throughout the Holy Qur'an (5:74; 25:70; 11:3)
Tawbah nasuh (sincere or genuine repentance) is distinguished by a Muslim's:
•remorse over committing the sin
•removal of himself from the sin
•resolve not to commit the sin again
•asking Allah for forgiveness every time he remembers the sin

Therefore, Pres. Obama's extreme submission of bowing and scraping before King Abdullah may have been an indication of his sincere remorse over committing the sin of shirk (blasphemy) and an appeal for mercy from the punishment of his irtidad (apostasy). King Abdullah, in 2007, showed extreme mercy and compassion to pardon the girl from Qatif who had been gang raped by 7 men and who had been sentenced to 200 lashes and 6 months in prison. Then, Pres.
