Yesterday’s Ugly American in Europe, Today’s Stupid American in the Middle East

Listening to San Francisco classical radio this week, the station is conducting a contest, winner to be flown anywhere in the world. Woooo Hooo! Each daily winner will be placed in a pool (No, not a swimming pool, all those of you with a public school education!), the grand prize winner somehow to be determined at the end of the week.

Today’s winner when asked where in the world she would like to go proudly proclaimed she and her husband have always wanted to go to the “middle east”. The radio host also proudly proclaimed “oooh how wonderful!”


In my world:

With all the terrorism, suicide bombing and kidnapping and beheading of Americans in the “middle east”, I say what a Stupid American!


Host: Where in the world would you like to go?

Winner: My husband and I have always wanted to go to the “Middle East”. Now, we would particularly like to go to offer ourselves as targets for the radical Islamists. We want to show how culturally sensitive and liberal we are by helping our friends of the religion of peace, live their dreams which will as their holy book says, lead them to paradise.

Host: Oh you should have a wonderful time; it’s such a culturally rich and diverse area of the world. I know you’ll both be excellent jihadist targets. Allah Akbar!
